Clattenburg to referee Euro 2016 final

UEFA has announced Mark Clattenburg will referee the final of Euro 2016 between France and Portugal on Sunday.

The Englishman, a regular Premier League official, will become the second man after Portugal s Pedro Proenca in 2012 to referee both the Champions League final and European Championship decider in the same season, having already been the man in the middle for Real Madrid s penalty-shootout victory over Atletico Madrid at San Siro in May.

He also took charge of the FA Cup final between Manchester United and Crystal Palace this season and will be the first English referee of UEFA s quadrennial international showpiece since Arthur Holland in 1964, when Spain defeated Soviet Union 2-1.

Simon Beck and Jack Collin will serve as Clattenburg s assistants at Sta…

Vancouver Whitecaps v Los Angeles FC: Sartini hoping to benefit from missing international players

Vancouver Whitecaps head coach Vanni Sartini believes the international break will benefit his side ahead of welcoming Los Angeles FC to BC Place this weekend.

The hosts will be without top scorer Ryan Gauld along with Ali Ahmed, Sam Adekugbe, Andres Cubas, Fafa Picault and Pedro Vite as they aim to break into the top seven of the Western Conference and avoid playing in the first round of the playoffs.

However, Sartini believes that this presents an opportunity for his fringe players to step up against one of the better sides in the division, having seen his side fall to back-to-back defeats since clinching their place in the post-season.

“It is very important to win,” Sartini said. “Unfortunately, we did not do well in the last couple of games so now this …

AC Milan 2018-19 Serie A fixtures in full

The first Milan derby of the 2018-19 season will take place on the weekend of October 21, by which time Gennaro Gattuso s Rossoneri will have steered themselves through a difficult start to their Serie A campaign.

After facing Genoa at home on the opening day, Milan take on last season s second and third placed sides respectively as they travel to Napoli then entertain Roma.

Their first clash with Inter at San Siro precedes a tough run of fixtures that includes a games against Juventus and Lazio in November and Gattuso will have to perform well if he is to remain as head coach for his first anniversary in the job at the end of that month.

Milan s reverse fixture against Inter comes in March 2019 ahead of a tricky run-in: the Rossoneri s last eight matches inc…

07-02-2010 Chelsea vs Arsenal

The Weekend s big game sees two giants of the Premierleague trying to bounce back from disappointing results.

Chelsea will be pleased to put their midweek draw with Hull City behind them. Fans and pundits alike were surprised to see Chelsea drop points to a lowly Hull City. Ancelotti was publicly supportive of his team, but privately he will be fuming they allowed Manchester United to close the gap at the top of the league to just two points, and with United at home to Portsmouth, it will be clear to the Italian that three points are absolutely vital in this top of the table clash. Selection will only be difficult in terms of dropping players, with only Boswinga, Essien and Mikel missing from the squad. Didier Drogba should be over any jet lag that may have affected him in his …

Premier League 2018-19: Role models keep good Kompany as City and Liverpool raise the bar

Sergio Aguero, who knows a thing or two about scoring vital goals with Premier League glory on the line, had seen enough.

Don t shoot! No, Vinny! No!

Manchester City were chasing a 13th consecutive league win against Leicester City, the sort of run that would obliterate any normal title race. Now, victory was required to simply edge back ahead of Jurgen Klopp s relentless Liverpool.

The Reds had just won their eighth game in succession and both frontrunners had smashed through the 90-point barrier. Twists and turns? Nothing of it. Just a thundering, unblinking march towards the prize.

This has been a season to forget what you might usually expect to be possible. In that spirit, Vincent Kompany looked up 30 yards from goal, had one more tentative shuffl…

The top bargains and flops of 2011

This year as always has saw a huge number of players moving to new clubs. Some players have proved more successful than others.

In this article I will highlight the players that I think have been the biggest flops and bargains of 2011.

Bargains

Demba Ba (Newcastle)

From the moment Demba Ba arrived in England with West Ham he showed he could score goals in the Premier League. A move to Stoke collapsed last January due to the Senegalese international having knee problems.

However Newcastle snapped the striker up on a free transfer this summer and he has been outstanding for the Magpies. Ba is currently Newcastle’s top goal scorer with 14 Premier League goals in just 17 games this season.

He has all the attributes of a great centre forward…

Bengals vs Browns MNF Prop Bets: Mixon's Due Against Weak Cleveland Rush Defense

The battle of Ohio has many moving pieces Monday night, but the Ja’Marr Chase-less Bengals enter as a 3-point road favorite vs. the Cleveland Browns, who have dropped four straight.

Without Chase, the Bengals and Joe Burrow will move that target share somewhere else but don’t be surprised if Zac Taylor leans on the run vs. a bad Cleveland run defense.

Find out my best NFL prop picks for Monday Night Football’s battle between the Bengals and the Browns.

Jets vs Dolphins Odds, Picks, and Predictions Week 15: Miami's Defense Clamps Wilson & Co.

In somewhat of a role reversal, it’ll be the Miami Dolphins coming off an embarrassing loss hosting the New York Jets after a lopsided win.

This is a rematch from three weeks ago where Miami laid the smackdown up in New Jersey, destroying the Jets 34-13 and outgaining them by 236 yards.

NFL odds have the Dolphins favored by 8.5 points with the total sitting at 37.5. The teams will look a little bit different than they did in their matchup a few weeks ago, so let’s dive in and I’ll provide you with my free NFL picks for Jets vs. Dolphins on December 17.
