Ranieri sacked by Inter

Inter have sacked Claudio Ranieri as coach just six months after appointing him, the Serie A club announced on Monday.

The 60-year-old had been under intense pressure after a run of just one win in 10 matches left the club languishing in eighth place in the Serie A table, seven points shy of the European qualification places.

Youth team coach Andrea Stramaccioni will take charge on an interim basis, becoming the club s third manager of the season and fifth since Jose Mourinho departed for Real Madrid at the end of the 2009/10 season.

Ranieri was dismissed in the wake of Sunday s 2-0 defeat to Juventus, Inter s ninth reverse since the start of the year.

President Moratti and all of Inter would like to thank Claudio Ranieri and his staff for the professio…

Champions League quest fires Bayern and Muller

Thomas Muller believes the quest to win another Champions League will keep Bayern Munich s motivation levels high this season.

Bayern are aiming to win a fifth consecutive Bundesliga title, having finished top of the pile domestically in each of Pep Guardiola s three seasons at the helm.

But Guardiola, who won the Champions League twice during his time with Barcelona, was unable to add Europe s top prize during a trophy laden spell, meaning his Bayern did not scale the heights of Jupp Heynckes  2012-13 treble winners.

The objectives are the same each year, Germany international Muller told a news conference. We want to win everything there is to win, which is not to be confused with the impression that everything is nothing other than the treble.

Camavinga expects Mbappe to deal with pressure of Benzema absence at World Cup

Eduardo Camavinga backed Kylian Mbappe to deal with the added pressure after Karim Benzema was ruled out of the World Cup for France.

Didier Deschamps side start their title defence in Qatar against Australia in Tuesday s Group D clash, but Les Bleus will do so without two key attacking figures.

Christopher Nkunku tore the lateral collateral ligament in his left knee after Tuesday s collision with Camavinga in training, before a thigh issue on Saturday for Benzema ruled the talisman out of the tournament.

France, who were already without Paul Pogba and N Golo Kante, still have a plethora of attacking options with Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann, Olivier Giroud and Ousmane Dembele the likely starting contenders.

Real Madrid midfielder Camavinga believes Mbappe w…

Napoli’s Zuniga in high demand

The agent of Napoli full-back Juan Camilo Zuniga claims that his client is wanted by a number of clubs outside Italy.

The Colombian international has two-years left on his deal at San Paolo and is regarded an important member of the starting line-up, but he was surprisingly linked with a summer exit.

It is no secret that Napoli are searching for a new left-back, which means they could decide to cash in on Zuniga.

Should the Azzurri decide to sell their prized asset, the experienced full-back would have no shortage of offers, his representative has revealed.

“You would have to ask the club if they have any plans to let go of him, but I can confirm that there is great interest in him from foreign clubs,” agent Riccardo Calleri said to Radio CRC.

Report: Pereira set for Napoli

Alvaro Pereira appears to be on his way out of Porto as Napoli are eager to add the wingback to their squad, according to reports.

The Serie A outfit were previously linked with Federico Balzaretti, but they have now turned their attention to the Uruguay international after missing out on the former Palermo man.

Pereira joined Porto from Cluj in 2009 and has since developed into one of the most sought after full-backs around in Europe.

The 26-year-old saw a move to Chelsea fall through last year as the Premier League giants refused to meet Porto s demands.

However, his agent Flavio Perchmen intimated earlier this month that Pereira could be on the move this summer.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Napoli are supposedly willing to pay a transfer…

Platini: I´m the best person to lead FIFA

Suspended UEFA president Michel Platini insists he is still the right man to lead FIFA.

Platini is suspended for 90 days as FIFA s Ethics Committee investigate a payment he received from the embattled governing body in 2011.

Despite that, the Frenchman remains one of the seven candidates standing in the presidential election on February 26 next year and the 60-year-old believes he is still right for the role.

I am, in all humility, the most able to run world football, he told The Telegraph.

Platini also explained the payment that is being investigated, saying the £1.35million was for work he did for FIFA president Sepp Blatter – albeit coming nine years after it was undertaken.

The two million [Swiss Francs] represents the equivalent of fo…

Neuer has taken the game to ´a new level´ – Kahn

Former Bayern Munich stalwart Oliver Kahn believes Germany international Manuel Neuer has taken goalkeeping to a new level with his style of play.

The signing of Neuer was greeted with disapproval from some Bayern fans upon his arrival at the club from traditional rivals Schalke in 2011.

He has answered any doubters in emphatic fashion during the subsequent four years, winning the Bundesliga three times, as well as the DFB-Pokal, the Champions League and the World Cup with his country.

Neuer is now widely regarded as one of the world s best shot-stoppers, with Kahn not the first observer to remark on the 29-year-old s distinctive willingness to leave the box.

Manuel is a sweeper-keeper who has taken the game to a new level, always takes plenty of ris…

LA Galaxy preparing for life after Zlatan

Los Angeles Galaxy are in an awkward position right now. After reaching the Major League Soccer play-offs for the first time since 2016, they lost in conference semifinals to Los Angeles FC and since then they have been trying to do one thing keep Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The legendary Swedish superstar is going to be out of contract at the end of 2019 and the LA franchise has been trying to find ways to keep him at the club for at least another year. He scored 31 goals in 2019 despite turning 38 a month ago, but now his departure apparently looks all the more likely.

LA Galaxy have reportedly set their sights on Mauro Zarate as their replacement for the apparently outgoing star, claim Football Italia. Coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto has reportedly picked ex-Lazio and Inter…

Song reveals World Cup regrets after historic Brazil win fails to save Cameroon

Rigobert Song expressed regret over Cameroon s first two World Cup displays after they were eliminated from Group G despite becoming the first African team to beat Brazil at the tournament.

Cameroon needed to beat the pre-tournament favourites to have any chance of joining them in the last 16 on Friday, and they did so in dramatic fashion as Vincent Aboubakar scored a stoppage-time winner before receiving a second yellow card for celebrating by removing his shirt.

However, Switzerland s thrilling 3-2 win over Serbia ensured Murat Yakin s side finished two points clear of Cameroon, condemning them to a sixth consecutive group-stage exit at the World Cup.

The Indomitable Lions did at least go out on a high by ending Brazil s perfect World Cup record against African…

Yaya Toure delighted to extend Manchester City stay

Yaya Toure has claimed he would be happy to retire at Manchester City, if he can fire the side to many trophies.

The Ivory Coast international penned a new four-year deal at the Etihad Stadium in April after his agent had claimed the midfielder would look to move if better terms were not offered.
Toure scored the goal that fired City to the FA Cup in 2009 and also netted a double against Newcastle at the end of last season, a victory that went a long way to helping the club to the Premier League title.
He said: I was thinking about it a long time and want to have a long time at City because it is a club where everybody wants to achieve something.
City have a big project in the future and I am very happy with my decision.
I want to stay at the one club where I will get everyth…
